# Wet Painting

> Any color, any gloss, any substrate: the flexible coat for plastics and appearance prototypes.

## Specifications

| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Coating thickness | 20–60 µm |
| Tolerance impact | Moderate: adds 20–60 µm per surface with some variation at edges and recesses. Thin enough to ignore on most cosmetic parts, but mask toleranced fits, threads and datum faces — masking is routine and cheaper than rework. |
| Corrosion rating | Moderate and paint-system dependent — two-component polyurethane and epoxy primers reach hundreds of salt-spray hours; single-coat decorative systems are cosmetic protection only. |
| Appearance | Any color matched to Pantone or RAL at any gloss level from dead matte to high gloss; soft-touch and textured options available — the finish of choice when a machined prototype must look like the molded product. |
| Applicable substrates | aluminum, stainless-steel, steel, plastics, magnesium-az31b |

## Not suitable for

High-wear sliding surfaces — paint abrades and chips under repeated contact (use hardcoat, ENP or PTFE there); long outdoor structural service where powder coating outlasts it at similar cost; surfaces requiring electrical conductivity or grounding; fuel and solvent contact unless a rated paint system is specified.

## Typical applications

- Appearance prototypes matching production colors
- Plastic housings needing cosmetic coats
- Multi-color enclosures and panels
- Magnesium parts needing sealed protection
