## Mechanical properties (typical values, not certified minimums)

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Tensile strength | 70 MPa |
| Yield strength | ~70 MPa |
| Hardness | M89 (Rockwell) |
| Density | 1.41 g/cm³ |
| Machinability | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
| Corrosion resistance | ★★★☆☆ (3/5) |

## When to choose it

The part should be plastic but needs metal-like precision: POM machines crisply, holds ±0.02 mm routinely and shrugs off humidity that swells nylon. The default for gears and fixtures.

## When to look elsewhere

The assembly relies on adhesives or paint (POM low surface energy repels both — use ABS), or service exceeds ~90 °C continuous — step up to PPS or PEEK for heat.

## Typical applications

- Precision gears, sprockets and cams
- Bushings and dry-running bearings
- Test fixtures, jigs and robot gripper jaws
- Food machinery contact parts (FDA grades)
