Choose 2024 for fatigue-critical, damage-tolerant structure: cracks grow slowly and predictably, and it frequently outlasts both 6061 and 7075 under cyclic loading.

Look elsewhere when

Bare 2024 is the least corrosion-resistant common aluminum — never ship it unprotected into humid service; always anodize, chromate or prime. Avoid welding entirely.
