Choose it when

The step up from 5052 when marine structure needs more strength: best seawater corrosion resistance of the common alloys, fully weldable, and it keeps toughness at cryogenic temperatures.

Look elsewhere when

Not for sustained service above ~65 °C (risk of sensitization and stress corrosion) and not a substitute for 6061-T6 where machinability and crisp detail matter more than salt exposure.

Typical applications

  • Ship and workboat structural components
  • ROV and subsea equipment frames
  • Cryogenic and LNG vessel parts
  • Offshore platform hardware
