What slows this industry down
Aerospace machining is the discipline of margins: brackets pocketed to the FEA limit because launch mass is purchased by the kilogram, and titanium fittings where a tool mark is a fatigue initiation site. The paperwork is as load-bearing as the part — mill certs, lot traceability and AS9102-format first article inspection are entry tickets, not extras. Special processes like anodize and chem-film must follow MIL specs your prime will audit. New-space cadence compresses all of this into prototype-speed timelines that traditional aerospace suppliers were never built for.
Typical parts we machine
- Satellite bus brackets and skeletonized panels
- Avionics enclosures and card trays
- Antenna and star-tracker mounts
- Titanium fittings and isolation stand-offs
- Test, GSE and qualification fixtures
Recommended materials

Aluminum 7075-T6
Aircraft-grade aluminum: steel-level strength at a third of the weight.

Aluminum 2024-T351
The aerospace fatigue specialist: damage-tolerant alloy for cyclically loaded structures.

Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V)
Half the weight of steel at full strength, bio-inert, corrosion-proof — and priced accordingly.

Alloy Steel 4340
The landing-gear steel: maximum strength with toughness for safety-critical rotating parts.
Recommended finishes

Chromate Conversion (Alodine / Chem Film)
Corrosion protection that stays conductive — the EMI-grounding finish for aluminum.

Anodizing Type II (Clear)
The standard aluminum finish: hard, clear oxide that keeps the metallic look.

Hardcoat Anodizing Type III
Wear armor for aluminum: an oxide layer as hard as tool steel.

Passivation
Chemical hygiene for stainless: strips embedded iron so the steel can be as stainless as advertised.
Certifications & standards
- AS9100
- We understand AS9100 supply chains and operate with the configuration control and traceability discipline your quality clauses flow down.
- Nadcap
- We understand special processes (heat treat, surface treatment, NDT) may require Nadcap-accredited processors — flagged and routed accordingly at quoting.
- AS9102 FAI
- We support first article inspection reporting in AS9102 format for new part numbers and revision changes.
- EN 10204 3.1
- We support full material traceability with EN 10204 3.1 certificates linking every part to its mill lot.
We understand and support these requirements; certification and documentation scope is confirmed per order.
Questions aerospace & space buyers ask
- What documentation should a machining supplier provide for aerospace parts?
- Material certificates to EN 10204 3.1 tied to heat number, full dimensional or CMM reports against the drawing, FAI per AS9102 format when requested, and CoC per shipment. We are explicit about which quality-system certifications we hold rather than implying AS9100 coverage we cannot show.
- Can titanium Ti-6Al-4V structural parts be machined at prototype quantities?
- Yes — Grade 5 runs on our 5-axis centres from single pieces, with rigid fixturing and low-speed high-feed strategies to manage work hardening. Expect roughly 3–4× aluminum cycle times; the material and the machining plan, not the quantity, set the price.
- MIL-A-8625 anodize and MIL-DTL-5541 chem film — can imported parts meet them?
- The coatings are process specifications, not geography: Type II and Type III anodize and chromate conversion are run to those specs with coating certs when your drawing calls them. If your programme is ITAR-controlled, that is a jurisdictional question to resolve before any files move — raise it first, not last.
