Titanium Grade 2
Pure titanium: moderate strength, total chemical and seawater corrosion immunity.
Price index: $$$$$
Material properties
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Tensile strength | 345 MPa |
| Yield strength | 275 MPa |
| Hardness | ~200 HV |
| Density | 4.51 g/cm³ |
Choose it when
When corrosion immunity is the requirement and Ti-6Al-4V strength is overkill: Grade 2 is cheaper, more formable and easier to machine than Grade 5, with the same untouchable chemistry.
Look elsewhere when
At 345 MPa tensile it is no structural champion — for loaded aerospace or implant parts step up to Grade 5. If the environment is merely humid air, 316L does the job for far less.
Compatible finishes

As-Machined
The baseline finish: straight off the machine, fastest and cheapest.

Bead Blasting
The uniform matte look: erases tool marks, hides fingerprints, preps perfect anodizing.

Polishing
Progressive abrasives down to mirror: the finish for optics, molds and show surfaces.

Electropolishing
Reverse plating that brightens, deburrs and passivates stainless in one step.

Passivation
Chemical hygiene for stainless: strips embedded iron so the steel can be as stainless as advertised.

Laser Marking
Permanent identification with zero dimensional change: serials, logos and codes burned in, not stuck on.
Typical applications
- Chemical process and heat-exchanger parts
- Medical instruments and implant hardware
- Electrolysis electrodes and anode baskets
- Seawater and desalination components
